Reviews for WILD ROSE HOLIDAY PARK, ORMSIDE

We recently stayed at Wild Rose Holiday Park for a special occasion. While there were some lovely aspects, such as the friendly staff and fantastic food & entertainment, however the overall experience left much to be desired. We decided to upgrade our accommodation at the last minute, but I regret doing so. The bathroom and shower had barely any water pressure, and the water was ice cold – a major issue given the ice & snowfall. On top of this, the heating in the accommodation didnt work, which made it incredibly uncomfortable during freezing conditions. Another major drawback was the behavior of some permanent guests at the park. A large group of men openly discussed inappropriate topics, including allegations of drug use and certain parties on-site. And it was made quite clear they didn't appreciate outsiders, This was unsettling and not the kind of conversation I expected to overhear on a family-friendly holiday. To make matters worse, on our last night, a man followed us from the pub and invaded our personal space, making us feel unsafe. This left a sour note on what was meant to be a relaxing getaway. While the staff, food and entertainment were excellent, the lack of basic comforts, such as hot water and heating, combined with the unsettling atmosphere created by a clear clique of guests, really detracted from the experience. I wouldn’t return unless significant improvements are made to ensure safety and comfort for all guests.

We had a lovely mid week stay (Mon-Fri). The accommodation was very clean and cosy and had everything we needed. There were construction works going on around our caravan but our 21 month old was loving watching the diggers! The communication leading up to our arrival was great and told us everything we needed to know. It was pretty quiet while we were there, likely due to it being out with a holiday period. But this was ideal for our kids having the soft play and pool to themselves! The food in the restaurant was 10/10. There’s not much around the site and unfortunately the road to Appleby was closed while we were there, meaning a pretty lengthy detour, but this wouldn’t normally be the case. Would definitely return and recommend to friends 😊

Exceeded our expectations: Good quality accommodation, fantastic pool and gym, good value restaurant (loved the pie!), and a great location for walks and exploring. All the staff were friendly and pleasant. Thank you for a great holiday.

Caravan was excellent (platinum plus pet). Site was clean and tidy. Nice place. Good food in restaurant and reasonable prices for drinks. Pool was great. Only suggestions for improvement would be to add more facilities, arcade etc or things to do. Also, open the upstairs cafe area as additional bar on a night as the pub was full to capacity, and would have been worse if raining as the outside areas wouldn’t be used.

I took a while to decide on giving this review because I wanted to feel that it was as honest as possible. Please note this review is about our experiences at the time and may not represent the views of others. The free pizzas that were left under the sofas when we arrived and the sweaty designer t-shirt was a lovely touch. Very uncomfortable beds. This holiday park has good facilities (especially the pool) for younger children and the remoteness of the location meant that, on this occasion, some children were left to freely roam about engaging in active playful activities until the early hours of the morning. Unfortunately, the large leak that we had on our last night, was due to the kitchen sink overflow being drained into a bowl (it wasn't even fitted) After a clean up and a repair (by ourselves), we informed the reception on our departure - which we felt wasn't really acknowledged. I understand others may view this place in a more positive light... and this may have been a one off.

Had a wonderful week away, the lodge was beautiful, clean and had everything we needed the beds were huge and very comfortable and we'd booked the added bonus of a hot tub which had a great view over fields, very peaceful! Indoor soft play is perfect for little ones letting off a bit of steam. Heated Indoor/outdoor pool was fantastic slightly nippy outside in the cold British weather but would have been perfect had we have got some sun! We ate at the onsite restaurant a couple of times and it was very nice food with big portions, great that children eat free with one paying adult. The only thing it could do with is a mini market on site, the cafe sells essentials like milk and eggs but could do with a proper little shop with more food options. Saying that we did find a coop in Appleby which is only a 10 minute drive away and some people were even getting shopping delivered to the park. All in all a very good holiday and enjoyed by all.

This place is absolutely lovely. The pool is amazing. Ice cream is yum. Food in the bar is lovely too and good value too. Kids eat free in the restaurant with bought adult meals. It cost 20 pounds for an adult meal, kids meal with ice cream and a juice plus a large lemonade and a fruit shoot. The soft play is so good, you can sit and have a cuppa and watch the little ones play. Down the road is the lovely waterfall. Our cabin didn't look the same as what I booked however it was better really because the couches were fabric which I prefer. The sofa bed isn't great as a sofa but it was fixed by putting duvets and pillows on it before sitting so it's fine. All in all am amazing weekend with lots of swimming in a lovely warm pool. Will definitely be back.

Stayed at the park 1st week in July for a week. When we arrived we found out the oven wasnt working in our platinum plus van. Reported to reception the next morning and they got on it straight away. Couldnt be fixed within the week so they gave us vouchers for the bar for dinner on sat night and we moved into an upgraded van with hot tub next day. We were over the moon. Now i know when we return i will always book a hot tub chalet. Had a fantastic week at this site. Swimming pool is fantastic. Food in the bar was always good. If i had to say something it would have been better if the site had a better shop (however i do believe that is coming next) It would also have been nice to have been able to get access to slush puppies / ice cream / milk shakes for the kids in the evenings as the coffee shop closed at 5pm most days. However we had a wonderful stay and will definately be returning. Maybe next time the sun will shine for us too :-)

Stayed at Wild Rose a few years ago and it has had massive investment since then and is still ongoing. Really have modernised it and expanded all it's facilities. Stayed in a hive that was very clean and spacious. My only point would be that all windows have curtains to block light apart from the side door. I would highly recommend a solution as it does cause for an earlier than normal wake up. Bar & Restaurant staff were spot on and very welcoming. Top marks to Ryan. It was nice weather so the outside seating while really well designed lacks enough seating to cater for the amount of guests that could want a drink in the sun. A great 3 night break and would 100% recommend to singles, couples and families. Thankyou

Had a lovely 4 day stay in one of the 'Hive' static vans. They were well equipped and super clean. The kitchen appliances were very good. The fold out beds were somewhat uncomfortable, which led to restless nights. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, especially Becky, who went our of her way to find us some bedding, which we had forgotten. Love the quiet location and layout. The swimming pool facilities were very good, though work was still ongoing at the time of our visit. The bar was nice, though we never tries the food.
